Lubeck Museum of Theatre Puppets
About Lubeck Museum of Theatre Puppets
The Lubeck Museum of Theatre Puppets is a museum of international puppetry within the Hanseatic metropolis of Lubeck, Germany. For decades Fritz Fey has passionately amassed something related to the records of puppeteering in Germany and overseas and has exhibited a part of his series in this museum which comprises five medieval brick houses. It can well compete with the internationally renowned corresponding collections of the Münchener Stadtmuseum in Munich or the Dresdner Puppenmuseum in Dresden and is a broadly mentioned enrichment of Lubeck's museum scene, subsidized especially with the aid of the City of Lubeck and a non-public charitable basis, the Possehl-Stiftung.
The museum contains a few thousand exhibits from three centuries and three continents. They show that puppeteers have usually and anywhere tried to maintain a replicate up to their societies. The puppets they have got used are technically quite extraordinary: glove puppets, marionettes, rod- and finger puppets, shadow puppets, ventriloquist's dummies, mechanical puppets, 5-in-one puppets: these kind of puppets are represented in this museum.
