About Lorsch Abbey
The Abbey of Lorsch is a previous Imperial abbey in Lorsch, Germany, around 10 km east of Worms. It was a standout amongst the most prestigious cloisters of the Carolingian Empire. Indeed, even in its demolished express, its remaining parts are among the most significant pre-Romanesque-Carolingian style structures in Germany. Its narrative, entered in the Lorscher Codex ordered during the 1170s presently in the state chronicle at Wurzburg is a principal record for early medieval German history.
Another popular report from the ascetic library is the Codex Aureus of Lorsch. In 1991 the demolished convent was recorded as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The convent was established in 764 by the Frankish Count Cancor and his bereaved mother Williswinda as an exclusive church and religious community on their home, Laurissa. It was devoted to Saint Peter and Saint Paul. The authors depended its legislature to Cancor's nephew Chrodegang, Archbishop of Metz, who turned into its first abbot.
