About Kunsthalle zu Kiel

The Kunsthalle Kiel is an artwork museum in the German town of Kiel. With 2.000 m² of show space, it's miles the largest museum inside the city. It is north of the town centre on Düsternbrooker Weg. It has a lecture hall, a small cafe and a sculpture lawn. The organization become based in 1903 through Lotte Hegewisch of Christian-Albrechts-Universitat zu Kiel to residence an artwork gallery. Designed by means of Georg Lohr, the constructing became built among 1908 and 1909, establishing on 14 November 1909 by means of Carl Neumann, chairman of the Schleswig-Holsteinischer Kunstverein, founded in 1843.

It has a shell limestone facade in the Neo-Baroque and Jugendstil patterns. In the front of the entrance are bison sculptures by means of August Gaul. In the 1950s a new staircase became brought, followed by way of an extension in 1986. In 2012 a re-layout of the entrance hall turned into completed.
