About Knesebeck
Knesebeck is a district of Wittingen in the district of Gifhorn. Knesebeck is with the Knesebeck Castle the ancestral home of the black tribe of the noble own family of the Knesebeck. The tribe is first mentioned in files in the year 1248 with Wasmodos of the Knesebeck. The Dukes of Brunswick Luneburg provided the moated fortress during the 14th century as a fief to numerous lords.
