About Homburg
Homburg is a city in Saarland, Germany, the administrative seat of the Saarpfalz district. With a population of c. Forty one,822 inhabitants, is the 0.33 largest town in its federal kingdom. The clinical branch of the University of Saarland is located here. The town is also home to the Karlsberg beer brewery. Major employers consist of Michelin and Robert Bosch GmbH. Homburg is located in north of the district of Saarpfalz, near the borders of Saarland with Rhineland-Palatinate and now not too far from France. It is sixteen km from Neunkirchen and 36 km from Saarbrucken.
The villages Beeden, Schwarzenbach, Worschweiler, Einod and Ingweiler are located in or on the Blies valley. The town counts nine villages: Beeden, Bruchhof-Sanddorf, Einod, Erbach, Jagersburg, Kirrberg, Reiskirchen, Schwarzenbach and Worschweiler. The village Einod counts Einod, Ingweiler and Schwarzenacker. The village Jagersburg counts Jagersburg, Altbreitenfelderhof and Websweiler. Erbach counts additionally Lappentascherhof and Johannishof. The Hohenburg Castle, nowadays a ruin, was inside the 12th Century the seat of the counts of Homburg. In 1330 the village obtained the city repute with the aid of Louis the Bavarian.
