About Herzog August Library
The Herzog August Library in Wolfenbuttel, Lower Saxony, referred to likewise as Bibliotheca Augusta, is a library of global significance for its gathering from the Middle Ages and early current Europe. The library is managed by the Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture. The library was established by Julius, Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg in 1572. In the 17th century it was the biggest library north of the Alps. The library was named after Duke Augustus 1579– 1666, who significantly amplified the accumulation, which was kept at Wolfenbuttel. Armed forces cruised by, forward and backward, throughout the centuries, however the accumulation was all around secured.
