About Halde Rheinpreuben
The Halde Rheinpreuben is a smash tip inside the German town Moers which lies 70 metres above its ambit. It is a part of the class Panoramas of the Ruhr Industrial Heritage Trail. In 1963, the break tip became heaped up with materials of the pit five/9, i.E. The mine Zeche Rheinpreuben. In autumn 1999, the artist Otto Piene, co-founding father of the ZERO organization, offered his idea of a mining lamp memorial known as Geleucht for the primary time.
Between 2005 and 2006, 35 lamp poles have been assembled on the ruin tip for red illumination of an area of eight,000 square centimetres. In 2007, the circa 28-metre excessive and a hundred and fifteen-tonne heavy landmark become built on the Halde Rheinpreuben. Since the dedication of the Geleucht on 17 September 2007, the mining lamp memorial and the lamp poles are illuminated every night. The stairs to the commentary deck are opened on a ordinary basis.
