About Gransee
Gransee is a town within the district Oberhavel in Brandenburg. It is the administrative seat of the Office Gransee and municipalities. The 2nd part of the name may also come from Middle Low German or Old Low German ouwie for Aue, land at the water or island. In 1262 Gransee Grassoyge, 1267 Gransoye, 1285 and 1290 Granzoye, 1302 Granzoge wrote, 1333 Granzowe and 1373 Gransoge. In 1499 to 1500 then Cransehe seemed. Archaeological finds prove that the region of modern-day town of Gransee changed into inhabited as early as the Bronze Age. The Sword of Gransee is dated to the Middle Bronze Age 1600 to 1300 BC.
In urban renewal paintings, urns from the overdue Bronze Age 1300 to 800 BC had been determined beneath the pavement. The migration of peoples started within the 20th century, while many Germanic tribes left their ancestral territories and moved west and south. Slavs from the east of the Oder and the Slavs of the so-called Prague group, who settled between the Elbe and the Oder and from which the Abodrites and the Havel Spree tribes evolved, observed inside the center of the 6th century.
