About Fuchskaute

The Fuchskaute is a terminated fountain of liquid magma and, at 657.3 m above ocean level, the most elevated pile of the Westerwald and the district of Westerwaldkreis in the German province of Rhineland-Palatinate. The name Fuchskaute "foxhole" alludes to a spot where the fox had its lair. The Fuchskaute ascends in the High Westerwald, a level of the Westerwald which, thus, is a piece of the Rhenish Massif. It is somewhere between Bad Marienberg in the west and Breitscheid in the east and lies in the area of Willingen.

The state limit with Hesse keeps running along its eastern slants and that with North Rhine-Westphalia lies a couple of kilometers toward the north. Just a distance of 3 km north-upper east is the tripoint of the conditions of Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate. A few streams ascend on its flanks, including the Nister. There used to be a perception tower on the Fuchskaute from where perspectives on the Westerwald and other neighborhood wide open could be delighted in. Novice radio administrations work two transmission towers on the south top of the Fuchskaute.
