About Erkner
Erkner is a metropolis inside the Oder-Spree District of Brandenburg, Germany, located at the south-jap fringe of the German capital metropolis Berlin. In 1579, Erkner turned into first noted inside the Rudersdorf church facts as "Arckenow", a fishermen's vicinity of residence. This area name evolved to Erkenau Erkener Erkner. Until 1701 the settlement only had seven houses. This changed in 1712, while a education resort for the new Post road from Berlin to Frankfurt became constructed.
As of 1748, 3 Palatine farming households settled a locality inside Erkner. Later they moved their homesteads to the cutting-edge Buchhorster Strasse. One of these homesteads now homes the Heimatmuseum with Erkner's oldest residence. In 1752, Prussian king Friedrich II established a Mulberry plantation with 1,500 timbers, of which handiest one continues to be standing in modern day Friedrichstrasse.
The village grew as much as 260 populations in 1805. At this time Erkner turned into a barge men's village with numerous localities: “The Erkner“, Neu Buchhorst, Schonschornstein, Alte Hausstelle, Hohenbinde, Jagerbude and till 1884 Woltersdorfer Schleuse. Along the waterways among the rivers Oder, Spree, Havel and Elbe, were mass transports of lime, coal and different substances from the limestone mine in nearby Rudersdorf to Berlin and from the commercial regions of Silesia to Berlin respectively.
