Elsterwerda

Elsterwerda is a small town in the Brandenburg district of Elbe Elster. It covers an area of 41 km² and is located within the south of the nature park Niederlausitzer heathland and at the western border of Schradens, a lowland region of the Black Elster. The location belonged until 1815 to the Electoral Saxon workplace Hayn and changed into after the division of Saxony in accordance with the provisions of the Congress of Vienna part of the Prussian district of Liebenwerda.

After the district reform in Brandenburg Elsterwerda 1993 got here to the newly formed district Elbe Elster.
