About Daun
Daun is a town in the Vulkaneifel district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is the district situate and furthermore the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde of Daun. The town lies in the Vulkaneifel, a piece of the Eifel known for its volcanic history, land and geographical highlights, and notwithstanding continuous movement today, including gases that occasionally well up from the earth. Daun lies south of the High Eifel on the stream Lieser. Found from 2.5 to 3.5 km southeast of Daun's town focus are the Dauner Maare, a gathering of three volcanic lakes isolated entirely by just the dividers of tuff between them. The town is home to the Eifel-Vulkanmuseum.
The primary settlement in the region came as right on time as the 7th century BC by which time the Celts had settled the sustained basalt mountain in Daun. The Romans, as well, utilized this unmistakable slope in the Lieser valley as a watch post, as seen by Roman finds. The placename may have originated from the Celtic-Roman word Dunum, which means either "fence" or "braced statures", in other words, a fortification. In the late 10th century, a manor complex having a place with the free Lords of Daun emerged here. In 1075, Daun had its first narrative notice in a townsman named Adalbero de Duna.
