About Bitterfeld
Bitterfeld is a district of the city Bitterfeld Wolfen inside the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld in Saxony Anhalt and a middle of the chemical enterprise. Until June 30, 2007 Bitterfeld changed into an impartial town and county seat of the district Bitterfeld. Bitterfeld is positioned about 25 km northeast of Halle and about 35 km north of Leipzig. East is the Muldestausee. In the north, the district Wolfen and southeast of the metropolis joins the Goitzsche with the Great Goitzschesee, a nature reserve with 24 km ² of water.
The call probable derives from the Middle High German meaning swampy of the adjective sour and therefore method marshy land. Bitterfeld in the beginning belonged to the Slavic agreement place. It is first noted in files on 28 June 1224. Until 1276 Bitterfeld belonged to Anhalt. In the middle Ages, Bitterfeld became a small metropolis that flourishes on crafts and agriculture, specially clothiers, potters and cobblers, and their breweries. Until 1815 Bitterfeld become the capital of the Electoral Saxon Bitterfeld.
