About Bitburg Reservoir
The Bitburg Reservoir is a flood retention basin on the River Prum in Biersdorf am See and Wiersdorf in the Eifel heaps of Germany. It is around 12 kilometers northwest of the town of Bitburg and not a long way from the city of Trier in the territory of Rhineland-Palatinate. The dam, a 15-meter-high earth dam, was worked by the Zweckverband Stausee Bitburg for flood insurance at a spot where the thin and profoundly chiseled valley of the Prum opened into a valley bowl, that used to be always in risk of flooding.
The approximately 2 kilometer-long and up to nine-meter-profound store permits the guideline of low water levels, empowers the age of power, and offers a position of amusement, making it a well known goal and visitor focus in the South Eifel. Around the lake there is a five-kilometer-long round way and numerous other great climbing trails, some of which are lit during the evening. The climbing system of the German-Luxembourg Nature Park begins here. Wearing and recreational exercises incorporate paddling, paddling, surfing, pedaloes, inline skating, mountain biking, badminton, cycling and angling amidst the lake is a huge wellspring.
