About Berchtesgaden
Berchtesgaden is a municipality in the Bavarian Alps of southeastern Germany. It is positioned within the south district of Berchtesgadener Land in Bavaria, near the border with Austria, a few 30 km south of Salzburg and 70 km southeast of Munich. To the south of the city, Berchtesgaden National Park stretches along three parallel valleys. Berchtesgaden is often related to the Watzmann, at 2,713 m the 0.33-highest mountain in Germany after Zugspitze and Hochwanner, which is renowned within the rock climbing network for its Ostwand East Face, and a deep glacial lake by using the call of Konigssee.
