About Ninotsminda
Ninotsminda is a city and a middle of the eponymous municipality placed in Georgia's southern district of Samtskhe-Javakheti. According to the 2014 census the town has a population of five,144. The enormous majority of the populace are Armenians. Translation of the current professional name of the settlement means "Saint Nino" in English and it become given to the city in honor of the illuminator of Georgians St. Nino, in 1991. During the Ottoman rule, this changed into a sanjak of Çıldır Eyaleti, known as Altunkale, this means that "Golden Castle" in Turkish.
Before 1991, the city of Ninotsminda became known as Bogdanovka Russian: Богдановка - a call going again to the records of the Doukhobor settlement in the vicinity inside the 1840s. After the conquest of Kars in 1878, a few Doukhobors from Bogdanovka moved to the newly created Kars Oblast. Twenty years later, a number of them or their descendants emigrated from Kars Oblast to Canada, wherein they hooked up a brief-lived village named Bogdanovka in Langham district of Saskatchewan.
