About Freedom Square, Tbilisi
Freedom Square in the focal point of Tbilisi has experienced a few name changes in its 200 year history.
Worked in the mid nineteenth century in a neo-traditional style with Moorish engineering components, it was initially named Pashkevich-Erivanskaya Square out of appreciation for Ivan Paskevich, a Ukrainian general of the Russian Imperial Army who had vanquished Erivan show day Yerevan in Armenia for the Russian Empire.
Opportunity Square has been the site of different mass open festivals and exhibitions, including those that occurred amid Georgia's Rose Revolution.
In 2005 the square was the scene of a death endeavor on U.S. President George W. Bramble, Who had come to Georgia to partake in the 60th commemoration festivity of the finish of World War II.
Today, Freedom Square is a continuing image of Georgia's want for opportunity and autonomy.
