Unusual Leatherback Turtles

Are you visiting French Guiana in the months of April through July? Wonderful, it may be the best decision of your life. It is so because it allows you to head towards the northwest corner of the outpost to observe the activities of the Leatherback turtles beautifully laying their eggs. Further, in July through September, visitors specially come here to see the process of hatching eggs and motivate the hatchlings on their ocean adventure. For viewing the turtles, visit the renowned Maison de la Reserva Natural l Amana in St. Lurent du Maroni. It has a small museum that informs onlookers on the biology and habits of turtles, and is also equipped with two trails that pave the way to the nesting areas. However, you are very much recommended to wear pants and long sleeves, and to carry mosquito repellents to ward off their clouds of bugs which are frequently seen here.
