Trouee d'Arenberg
About Trouee d'Arenberg
The Trouee d'Arenberg or Tranchee de Wallers-Arenberg is a 2.3 km since quite a while ago cobbled street in the district of Wallers in Northern France, in the Departement Nord. The street's authentic name is La Dreve des Boules d'Herin and crosses the Foret de Raismes-Saint-Amand-Wallers, outside France otherwise called the Forest of Arenberg. It is best known from the yearly cycling great Paris– Roubaix held in April, where it is a standout amongst the most troublesome entries of the race. Authoritatively, the 2,300 meters of cobbles were laid in the season of Napoleon I, in the late 19th century, crossing the expansive timberland of Saint-Amand-Wallers, near Wallers and only west of Valenciennes.
The street is straight and limited, dropping somewhat when entering the woods from the town of Arenberg, at that point ascending in the second half. The elevation is 25m toward the begin and 19m toward the end. The cobbles are very hard to ride in view of their inconsistency. Numerous fans have removed cobbles as gifts, prompting a customary registration of the street. The Trouee d'Arenberg was never incorporated into the Tour de France, yet two phases of the Tour have completed in the town of Arenberg, at the woods' passageway.
