About The Love Monument
The landmark, set on an island in the waterway, remains on a roundabout stage with seven stages. Twelve Corinthian sections are finished off with a position of safety dome of Conflans limestone, secured with lead and painted to look like wood. The underside of the dome highlights etched caissons and rosettes masterminded around a focal board etched by Deschamps.
Estimating somewhere in the range of two meters in width, this centerpiece includes a quiver, bolts and blazing coals, joined and enhanced with roses and olive branches. The stone work is crafted by Guiard. The Love Monument was completely reestablished in 2006.
