About Sevres Cite de la Ceramique

Sevres – Cite de la ceramique is a French countrywide ceramics museum positioned on the Place de l. A. Manufacture, Sevres, Hauts-de-Seine, a suburb of Paris, France. It was created in January 2010, from the merger of the Musee national de Ceramique-Sevres and the Manufacture nationale de Sevres. The museum is open daily besides Tuesday; an admission charge is charged.

Access to the museum by using public transportation is to be had from Tramway d'e-de-France station Musee de Sevres on Tramway T2, and by Paris Metro station Pont de Sevres on Line. The museum changed into inaugurated in 1824 via Alexandre Brongniart, director of the Manufacture nationale de Sevres, becoming the primary museum devoted to first-class ceramic arts in the international.

Denis-Desire Riocreux, a famend painter at the manufacture became the director with a intention of amassing and analyzing satisfactory ceramics from all around the international. Brongniart posted his treatise on ceramic artwork and pottery in 1845. The following year, with Riocreux, he wrote Description methodique du musee ceramique de los angeles Manufacture Royale de Porcelaine de Sevres, which became the museum's first catalogue.
