About Sancerre
Sancerre is a hilltop town and canton in the Cher branch of critical France overlooking the Loire River. It is cited for its wine. Located within the area of Gaul settled through the powerful Celtic tribe, the Bituriges, or the Kings of the World, and after their defeat at Bourges part of Roman Aquitania. Some proof factors to the lifestyles of an early hillside Roman temple devoted to Julius Caesar; positioned at the Roman street from Bourges to the river town of Gordona now Saint Thibault and Saint Satur. Name probably derived from Sacred to Caesar and later Christianized to Saint-Cere .
During the Carolingian length there has been a small village on the hillside, clustered across the Saint Romble Church. An Augustinian abbey was founded in Sainat Satur in 1034. A herbal castle 312 meters in top, Sancerre is a former feudal ownership of the Counts of Champagne inside the province of Berry. They built a castle at the hill and ramparts to protect the metropolis. The castle had six towers which include the Tower of the Strongholds and the Tower of Saint George.
