About Saint-Ouen Abbey Church

Saint-Ouen Abbey Church, is an expansive Gothic Roman Catholic church in Rouen, Normandy, France. The abbey is well known for the two its engineering and its extensive, unaltered Cavaille-Coll organ, which has once been depicted as "a Michelangelo of an organ" by Charles-Marie Widor. Based on a comparable scale to adjacent Rouen Cathedral, it is, alongside the church of Saint-Maclou, one of the chief Gothic landmarks of Rouen. The church is 137 m long under 33 m high vaults. The focal intersection is surmounted by an abnormal light style tower like that at Ely cathedral in England.

The pinnacle was finished in the Flamboyant style. The all around saved recolored glass of the nave dates to the 15th and 16th hundreds of years, and highlights gem tones among boards of clear and iced white glass. These materials enable all the more light to channel into the nave, making a more splendid inside than is average of gothic churches. The church contains a huge four-manual pipe organ worked in 1890 by Aristide Cavaille-Coll. This instrument is viewed as a standout amongst the most vital organs in France.
