About Sabatier d Espeyran Museum of Decorative Arts
The Cabrières-Sabatier Espeyran Hotel is one of the major additions to the Musée Fabre in the twentieth century. Completing the vast project of renovation of the museum, it now welcomes new Department of Decorative Arts. The mansion, built in 1873-1874 for Count Charles Despous Paul, was bequeathed to the City of Montpellier in 1967 by her granddaughter, Mrs. Renée Sabatier Espeyran. In addition to its remarkable collections - furniture, art objects, pottery and silverware - witness the aristocratic and bourgeois life of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the hotel Cabrières-Sabatier Espeyran with its state apartments sumptuously restored, is a charming house from which emanates the domestic and familiar poetry of the past.
