About Rouen Castle

Rouen Castle was a sustained ducal and illustrious living arrangement in the city of Rouen, capital of the duchy of Normandy, presently in France. Except for the pinnacle wrongly connected with Joan of Arc, which was reestablished by Viollet-le-Duc, the stronghold was demolished toward the finish of the 16th century, its stones quarried for other development. The chateau was worked by Philip II of France from 1204 to 1210 after his catch of the duchy from John, Duke of Normandy and King of England. Situated outside the medieval town to its north, in a predominant position, it assumed a military job in the 100 years war and the wars of religion.

It was the principle seat of intensity, organization and legislative issues in the duchy of Normandy for about 400 years, emblematically supplanting the ducal castle of Rouen in these jobs-of the bailliage and vicomte of the lord of France, of the english administration of the territory of the echiquier de Normandie. It was here that Joan of arc was detained in December 1430 and attempted from 21 February to 23 May 1431. Defenseless against mounted guns like other medieval posts, everything except the keep was destroyed in 1591.
