About Porte De La Citadelle

The gate of the Citadel is an entryway of Nancy Renaissance style , portraying the areas of the Old Town and the Faubourg of the three houses , a couple of meters from the Porte de la Craffe . Initially named Porte Notre-Dame , it was raised in 1598 by Florent Drouin the Younger between the bastions the Duke and the Marquis so named to pay tribute to Duke Charles III , and his child the Marquis de Pont .

Wishing to strengthen the barrier of the Porte de la Craffe , Charles III requested that Orfeo Galeani assemble the two chamber bastions. It has been named a memorable landmark by a pronouncement of January 24 , 1910. An indirect access permits to hop on the old defense which, since the 1990s, shields a quiet medieval garden.
