About Pont Neuf
The Pont Neuf is thought to be the most established stone extension in Paris. Henri IV requested it to be developed in 1578. Twelve curves, 384 'mascarons' or unusual appearances embellishing the cornices and the equestrian statue of Henri IV, the first to be put on an open lane, make the extension right away unmistakable. Comprising of two traverses, the extension associates the Musée du Louver, Rue de Rivoli and the Tour Saint-Jacques on the Right Bank with the Rue Dauphine, the Monnaie de Paris and Saint-Germain-des-Prés on the Left Bank through the Ile de la Cité, the beginning stage for a voyage through Notre Dame Cathedral and the Sainte-Chapelle.
These days you can cross the extension by walking asphalts, bike cycle ways or from the Garonne while getting a charge out of a vessel ride.
