Orleans

Orleans is a prefecture and cooperative in north-focal France, around 111 kilometers southwest of Paris. It is the capital of the Loiret division and of the Center-Val de Loire district. Orleans is situated on the Loire River where the waterway bends south towards the Massif Central. In 2015, the city had 114,644 occupants, and the number of inhabitants in the urban territory was 433,337. Orleans, Ontario and New Orleans, Louisiana are named after the city. Orleans is situated in the northern curve of the Loire, which crosses from east to west. Orleans has a place with the vallee de la Loire part between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes-sur-Loire, which was in 2000 recorded by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Five extensions in the city cross the Loire River: Pont de l'Europe, Pont du Marechal Joffre likewise called Pont Neuf, Pont George-V, Pont Rene-Thinat and Pont de Vierzon.
