About Obazine Abbey
Obazine Abbey, otherwise called Aubazine Abbey, was a Cistercian cloister in the present town of Aubazine in the departement of Correze in the Limousin in France. It was established in around 1134 by Saint Stephen of Obazine, who after his appointment, with another minister, Pierre, started the eremitical life. They pulled in various adherents and with the assent of Eustorge, Bishop of Tulle, constructed a cloister on a site allowed them by the Viscount Archambault. Before 1142 they had no settled principle; notwithstanding, in this year, St. Stephen was dressed with the customary propensity. He had Cistercian priests train his devotees in their method of life, and subsidiary his nunnery to that of Citeaux in 1147. As their number expanded, a few establishments were made.
Prior to the cistercian connection, the Abbey had a ladylike religious community in Coyroux with a high conclusion.
