About Notre-Dame-de-Lorette
Notre Dame de Lorette is the world's biggest French military cemetery. It is the name of an edge, basilica, and French national burial ground northwest of Arras at the town of Ablain-Saint-Nazaire. It is also otherwise called Ablain St.- Nazaire French Military Cemetery.
The high purpose of the mound upheld edge stands 165 meters high and – with Vimy Ridge – totally rules the generally level Douai plain and the town of Arras.A total of 40,057 casualties of the first World war are buried here and it also include 6 french graves of the second world war. The English meaning of “Notre Dame de Lorette” is “Our Lady of Lorette”, namely the Our Lady, the Virgin Mary of Lorette.
