About Musee Bernadotte
This townhouse is the origin of one of Napoléon's most loved officers, Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte nicknamed 'Sergent looker jambe', because of his shapely legs. Presently a historical center, the house investigates the bizarre story of how Bernadotte came to be delegated ruler of Sweden and Norway in 1810, when the Swedish parliament figured that the main way out of the nation's dynastic and political emergency was to stick an outsider on the position of royalty.
The present ruler of Sweden, Carl Gustaf, is the seventh in the Bernadotte administration, while a few other European regal families counting Norway, Luxembourg, Belgium and Denmark are altogether led by Bernadotte's relatives.
