About Montbeliard
Montbeliard is a city within the Doubs department within the Bourgogne-Franche-Comte place in eastern France, about 13 km from the border with Switzerland. It is one of the subprefectures of the branch. Montbeliard is cited as early as 983 as Mons Beliardae. The County of Montbeliard or Mompelgard became a feudal county of the Holy Roman Empire from 1033 to 1796. In 1283, it become granted rights underneath charter by using Count Reginald. Its charter assured the county perpetual liberties and franchises which lasted till the French Revolution in 1789.
Montbeliard original municipal institutions covered the Magistracy of the Nine Bourgeois, the Corp of the 18 and the Notables, a Mayor, and Procurator, and appointed "Chazes", all who participated in the management of the county as supplied through the constitution. Also under the 1283 constitution, the Count and the humans of Montbeliard were required by using regulation to shield Montbeliard, even as residents of Montbeliard have been now not required to combat in any wars outdoor of the county.
