Meaux Cathedral
About Meaux Cathedral
Meaux Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church in the town of Meaux, France. It is situated in the branch of Seine-et-Marne, east of Paris. The house of prayer is a national landmark, and is the seat of the Bishop of Meaux. Development of the house of God started between 1175 - 1180, when a structure in Romanesque style was begun. Imperfections in the first plan and development must be adjusted in the thirteenth century, in which the planner Gautier de Vainfroy was highly included. He needed to expel the past basilica absolutely and begin another structure in Gothic style.
In the later 13th century work was frequently hindered because of absence of assets, an issue expelled by the liberality of Charles IV in the mid 14th century. Further advancement was hindered by the Hundred Years' War and occupation by the English. The documents of the ward were devastated in 1793 – 1794, in this manner erasing much learning about the early history of the congregation. The author Pierre Moulu worked at the church building in the mid 16th century.
