About Limoges Cathedral
Limoges Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church situated in Limoges, France. It is a national landmark and the seat of the Bishop of Limoges. The church is in the Gothic, Renaissance and Romanesque building styles. The development of the congregation started in 1273 and completed just in 1888, when the nave was associated with the belltower. It is noted for its Renaissance rood screen worked in 1534, and for the fine, mostly octagonal, ringer tower.
The main artistic works in the church are its Renaissance rood screen, presently moved toward the western end of the nave and the tomb of the cleric Jean de Langeac, with etched scenes of the Apocalypse. The house of prayer contains two Renaissance works of extraordinary quality: a space specially designed by Bishop John Langeac, and the tomb of this religious administrator on which are cut scenes of the Apocalypse, propelled by Durer. Each late spring, the relationship of the church sorts out organ shows to feature the real organs of this structure.
