About Givors
Givors is a cooperative in the metropolis of Lyon in Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes locale in eastern France. It lies at the conversion of the Rhone and the Gier around 25 km 16 mi south of Lyon and on the fundamental street between that city and Saint-Etienne. It lies between the Monts du Lyonnais toward the north and west and the lower regions of Mont Pilat toward the south and west. The city has since quite a while ago filled in as an intersection between the networks of the Rhone and those of the Loire. The A47 autoroute goes through the core of Givors interfacing it to Saint-Etienne, Lyon and Vienne. Givors is likewise a northern door to the Pilat Regional Natural Park. Before Roman occasions the Segusiavi involved the domain where the present city of Givors is found. The angling network lay on the Roman Via Aquitania. The Tour de Varissan was a Roman post of some significance.
The Castle of Saint Gerald was the living arrangement of the groups speaking to the ecclesiastical overseer in Givors. The manor was decimated in 1591 when Givors was raged by the troops of Lesdiguieres, and was never reconstructed. Today, the remnants of the chateau of Saint-Gerald may even now be distinguished. The second church of Saint Nicholas was worked in 1646 to supplant the house of prayer that the mariners had once in the past devoted to Saint Nicholas, benefactor of the inland conduits.
