The Jardin des Plantes de Montpellier spread in 4.5 hectares is a noteworthy botanical garden and arboretum situated on Bouled Henri IV, Montpellier, Hérault, Languedoc-Roussillon, France. It is managed by the University of Montpellier and open aftrenoons aside from Monday. Entry is free here.
The garden was set up in 1593 by letters patent from King Henri IV, under the authority of Pierre Richer de Belleval, teacher of plant science and life systems. It is France's most seasoned botanical garden, enlivened by the Orto botanico di Padova 1545 and thusly filling in as model for the jardin des plantes de Paris 1626.
The Montagne de Richer exists in the garden's most established area, which additionally now contains an orderly garden. The garden was extended twice in the nineteenth century. Its orangery was outlined by Claude-Mathieu Delagardette 1762– 1805 and finished in 1804, the arboretum was arranged in 1810, and the English Garden, with pool and nursery, dates from 1859.
