About Gap Cathedral
It is a national landmark, and is the seat of the Bishop of Gap and Embrun. Gap Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church situated in the town of Gap, Hautes-Alpes, France.
The unique house of God on the site was worked around the fifth century on the remains of a Roman sanctuary to the God Apollo. The present church building was worked in the vicinity of 1866 and 1905 in Neo-Gothic style by planner Charles Laisne on the site of a previous medieval cathedral.
Throughout the years a few structures remained at a similar spot. Forty-one unique kinds of stone were decided for the development, indicating Byzantine impact. Roman and Gothic styles were likewise picked, as was normal amid this time for a dismal and amicable feeling in the meantime.
