About Gallo-Roman Walls

The Vestiges follows of the Gallo-Roman divider are the remaining parts of a fortress, built in Grenoble, France once in the past called Cularo toward the finish of the third century, under the rule of the Emperors Diocletian and Maximian. The status of Civitas denoted the city of Cularo as a managerial capital of the Roman Empire. The Gallo-Roman divider was 1,150 meters long, and had 39 semi-roundabout watchtowers which were 7.5 meters in distance across. It had two momentous doors designed by engravings recognizing the two Roman heads.

The Gallo-Roman divider assumed an imperative part in the insurance of the 9-hectare urban surface of the Roman settlement. It filled in as an image of the status of Civitas. The divider was developed of little limestone pieces and was secured with mortar. A few sections of the divider were 4 meters thick and made up of limestone, stone and tuileau rubble. These materials were held together by mortar.
