About Fourviere

Fourvière is a district town of Lyon, France and furthermore a slope promptly west of the old piece of the town, rising unexpectedly from the river Saône and after that tenderly inclining down toward the north-west. It is the site of the first Roman settlement of Lugdunum 43 BC. In spite of the fact that it bolsters the world's two most seasoned and dynamic funicular lines, it is principally known for the Catholic Basilica of Fourvière.

It is currently part of an UNESCO World Heritage site assigned for the city of Lyon in 1998.
