Fourmies

Fourmies is a cooperative in the Nord office in northern France. The occupants are called Fourmisiens. Fourmies is arranged in the Euroregion of Thierache, an area of Northern France and Southern Belgium. It is 50 km 31 mi from Valenciennes, 100 km 62 mi from Lille, and 175 km 109 mi from Paris. The city is encompassed by backwoods and lakes. On May 1, 1891, the Fusillade de Fourmies happened. It was the principal French and worldwide festival of International Workers' Day on May Day. In Fourmies, troops shot at tranquil strikers: nine kicked the bucket, including eight demonstrators under 21 years of age, among whom a youthful specialist who will remain an image, Marie Blondeau.

The shooting of the first of May in Fourmies evoked forceful feelings all through France. It is viewed today as one of the establishing occasions of the French Section of the Workers' International. The French Section of the Workers' International was a French communist gathering established in 1905 and supplanted in 1969 by the present Socialist Party PS. It was made amid the 1905 Globe Congress in Paris as a merger between the French Socialist Party and the Socialist Party of France so as to make the French segment of the Second International, assigned as the gathering of the specialists' development. Jean Jaures visited Fourmies a short time later to give a discourse there while Georges Clemenceau proclaimed before the French Parliament that "it is the Fourth state which rose".
