Dax Cathedral

After a fall in 1646 a piece of Dax's church building should have been modified, which makes it sort of a mess of styles.The more up to date, eighteenth century areas like the western passageway and towers, and in addition a great part of the nave all have a stern Neoclassical look. But there are energizing indications of the first thirteenth century building. Approach the house of God from the north and you'll go under the Portail des Apotres, which has a tympanum overflowing with lovely Gothic sculpture. In the choir the cut wooden slows down are from the 1500s and were rescued from the prior building.
