Chateaubriant Castle
About Chateaubriant Castle
The Chateaubriant Castle is a medieval stronghold firmly altered amid the Renaissance, situated in the collective of Chateaubriant in the Loire-Atlantique departement of France. The first mansion was established in the 11th century on the eastern outskirt of Brittany and, for example, the fortifications in Vitre, Fougeres, Ancenis and Clisson, it was safeguarding the duchy against Anjou and the Kingdom of France.
The stronghold was redesigned a few times amid the Middle Ages and the town of Chateaubriant created next to its. Amid the Mad War, the manor was seized by the French after an attack. The keep and the corridors, in part pulverized, were redesigned in the ostentatious style. Inevitably, amid the 16th century, the chateau got its complete appearance when the new Renaissance castle was worked against the medieval enceinte.
After the French Revolution, the château was sold and isolated a few times, and was at last changed into a regulatory focus, with the seat of the sous-prefecture, a court and a police headquarters. Every one of these workplaces shut down after 1970, and these days the chateau is mostly opened to guests. The chateau is situated between the Chateaubriant-Rennes railroad on the east and the old town focus on the west. Toward the north, it is circumscribed by the stream Chere which shapes a characteristic channel, and on the south by a wide square, the spot Charles-de-Gaulle.
