About Chateau Fort de Lourdes
The chateau fort de Lourdes is a historic castle situated in Lourdes in the Hautes-Pyrenees departement of France. It is deliberately put at the passage to the seven valleys of the Lavedan. Since 1933, it has been recorded as a landmark historique by the French Ministry of Culture. The manor's causes return to Roman occasions. Different stays from this period were exposed by military designing work in the 19th century. Notwithstanding, an outcome of these works was the devastation of most of the antiquated dividers. The finds are displayed on the site.
Today, the most established remains date from the 11th and 12th century and comprise of the establishments of the present fortresses. The chateau was fortified in the 13th and 14th century development of the keep, and again in the 17th and 18th century. The Notre-Dame-du-Chateau sanctuary houses the furnishings of the previous area church of Saint-Pierre de Lourdes, obliterated in 1904. The present church is developed with reused material from Saint-Pierre de Lourdes.
