About Chateau des Ducs de La Tremoille
The Chateau des Ducs de La Tremoille is located in Thouars in the Deux-Sevres departement of France and became built within the 17th century. It is positioned on a strategic defense factor a promontory above the Thouet river- and includes the main constructing, an internal court, an orangery, a chapel and a strong. The first known reference to the town of Thouars is dated 762, in a document describing how a fort became taken and then razed to the floor by means of Pepin the Short.
Later reconstructed it's far frequently stated from the tenth century the citadel became once more partly destroyed in 1158 by means of Henry II of England coveting the lands of Thouars's viscounty which might be an critical stronghold at some point of the Hundred Years' War.
