About Chapel Notre-Dame-du-Haut
Notre-Dame-du-Haut church is a catholic house of prayer worked from 1953 to 1955 on the Bourlemont slope in Ronchamp, Haute-Saone, in the French locale of Bourgogne-Franche-Comte. It is a production of the French - Swiss draftsman Le Corbusier. It is raised on the site of an old Roman haven and an old house of prayer reconstructed without precedent for the interwar period.
The house of prayer is worked with recovered stones filling the solid casing. The dividers are secured with shotcrete covered with white lime. The solid shell shaping the rooftop was built utilizing a wooden formwork; the impressions of the sheets are as yet obvious. Just the solid edge conveys this rooftop which does not contact the stone filling; therefore, a space of a couple of centimeters enables the light to go between the rooftop and the divider.
Crafted by light is considerably more recognizable in the sanctuary. Its interruption repudiates the thickness of the dividers and the vastness of the covering. The south divider is punctured by a progression of truncated pyramids that carry with awesome nuance the light hued by the recolored glass windows. The east divider is likewise specked with square days and a glass specialty containing a statue of the Virgin.
Likewise, an interestitial space between the dividers and the solid vault enables the light to pass, which outwardly mitigates the mass of the covering. At last, the internal houses of prayer advantage from a roundabout light, drawn north for the south sanctuary, east for the west church, and east for the west church.
