About Chambery
Chambery is a town in the department of Savoie, positioned inside the Auvergne-Rhone-Alps area in japanese France. It is the capital of the branch and has been the historic capital of the Savoy region since the thirteenth century, while Amadeus V, Count of Savoy, made the town his seat of power. Together with different Alpine towns Chambery engages inside the Alpine Town of the Year Association for the implementation of the Alpine Convention to attain sustainable improvement in the Alpine Arc.
Chambery become awarded Alpine Town of the Year 2006. The history of Chambery is carefully related to the House of Savoy and was the Savoyard capital from 1295 to 1563. During this time, Savoy encompassed a place that stretched from Bourg-en-Breese within the west, throughout the Alps to Turin, north to Geneva, and south to Nice. To insulate Savoy from provocations by way of France, Duke Emmanuel Hilbert moved his capital to Turin in 1563, and, therefore, Chambery declined.
