Bressuire

Bressuire is a commune in the Deux-Sevres branch in France. The town is located on an eminence overlooking the Dolo, a tributary of the Argenton. Bressuire dates lower back to Celtic times, and was at the meeting factor of roads throughout the Gallo-Roman period. The earliest surviving proof of the town's lifestyles, around the chapel of Saint Cyprien, dates returned to the 11th century.

Medieval Bressuire belonged to the viscounts of Thouars and comprised, inside the tenth century, the three parishes of Notre Dame Our Lady, St John and St Nicholas. The parish of St Nicholas, which has when you consider that disappeared, became placed in the partitions of the castle and belonged to the Abbey of Saint-Jouin-de-Marnes.

Among the failures suffered at numerous times by using the town, its seize from the English and subsequent pillage by means of French troops underneath du Guesclin in 1370 is the most memorable. Bressuire turned into part of the Ancien Regime Province of Poitou. Bressuire has two buildings of hobby: the church of Notre-Dame, which, dating chiefly from the 12th and 15th centuries, has an enforcing tower of the Renaissance length; and the fort, constructed by the lords of Beaumont, vassals of the viscount of Thouars.
