About Apt Cathedral
Adept Cathedral is a previous Roman Catholic church situated in the town of Apt in Provence, France. The church is a national landmark.
Presently the congregation of Saint Anne, the previous house of God was the seat of the diocesan of Apt until the French Revolution. Under the Concordat of 1801 the see was isolated between the Dioceses of Avignon and Digne.
The church building is accepted to have been based on the site where Saint Auspice was covered. Convention holds that Auspice turned into the caretaker of the relics of St. Anne, which it is said he put in an underground cavern to shield them from befouling by the savages.
