Apt

Able is a collective in the Vaucluse office in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur district in southeastern France.It lies on the left bank of the Calavon, 41 miles east of Avignon. It is the foremost town of the Luberon mountains.Apt lies north of Aix-en-Provence and the stream Durance, in the valley of the waterway Calavon,and at the foot of the north-bound inclines of the Luberon mountain.Apt was at one time the central town of the Vulgientes, a Gallic clan; it was demolished by the Romans around 125 BC and reestablished by Julius Caesar, who presented upon it the title Apta Julia; it was quite harmed by the Lombards and the Saracens, however its fortresses were reconstructed by the tallies of Provence.
