Uusikaupunki

Uusikaupunki is a town and municipality of Finland. It is situated in the Southwest Finland district. The municipality has a population of 15,685 in 31 January 2019 and covers a zone of 551.65 square kilometers of which 49.04 km2 is inland water. The municipality is unilingually Finnish. The two its Finnish and Swedish names make an interpretation of actually to "new town".

The first name of the fundamental town that was fused into Uusikaupunki was Kalainen. The encompassing area, and particularly the neighboring town of Kalanti, which converged with Uusikaupunki in 1993, was at that point an enthusiastic commercial center for wooden items and salt in the early Middle Ages. Uusikaupunki was established to authorize this exchange. The town of Uusikaupunki was established as a town with the privileges of trade in 1617 by pronouncement by Gustav II Adolf.

In 1721, the Peace of Nystad was marked in Uusikaupunki, finishing the Great Northern War among Sweden and Russia. Up to the 19th century, Uusikaupunki was a significant port for business and angling, and up to the last half of the 20th century, it held a significant ship-building industry. Uusikaupunki is the home of Valmet Automotive, an agreement car mechanical creation organization, delivering autos and vehicles for brands, for example, Mercedes-Benz.
